We build systems with two brands of processors only - Intel and AMD. Intel processors are what we recommend but we will build AMD systems per customer request. AMD systems tend to run hotter, need more cooling (fans) and have a lower reselling/trade-in value. |

A Intel Celeron is a good general use performer. It will perform excellent on surfing the Internet, running word processing programs (Word, Excel, Lotus) and will play standard level games. This processor is a good entry point for a first time/infrequent or business only user who is also watching their budget. |

A Intel Pentium 4 is a full featured high performance processor. Designed for audio and video applications it will effortlessly surf the Internet and run word processing programs (Word, Excel, Lotus) but also will play high level games and photo editing if paired with a decent video card. The P4 will perform best when built in combination with DDR or Rambus RAM. This processor is more expensive than the others but will outperform them and hold its resell/trade-in value. |

An AMD Athlon XP is AMD’s answer to the Pentium 4 from Intel. Although its numbering scheme is misleading (XP 2700+ actually runs at 2.16Ghz) it has maintained AMD’s presence in the processor market. These processors are considered high end for multimedia like the Pentium 4’s but they tend to run hot, and heat is the main reason for component failure in processors. If we build you an AMD system we will insist on installing extra system fans to keep it cool. |
