There are two pieces of hardware that enable you to connect to the Internet. If you are going to use a dialup account (AOL, MSN, Acronet, MilwaukeePC, NetZero, etc.) you will need a 56K modem. If you are using high-speed broadband (RoadRunner, DSL) you will need a network card.  If the computer is going to be part of a business or home network you will need a network card.
